The Cottage

Craiglemine Cottage was originally built around 1840 and extensively rebuilt and modernised in 1991.

Surrounded by the broad rolling fields of rural western Dumfries & Galloway we enjoy wide views of uninterrupted sky and landscape. With a clear western horizon we see some beautiful sunsets and many types of atmospheric phenomena such as Sun pillars.

Within the half acre of our own grounds there is plenty of open space for children to play and a large plot to grow our own vegetables.

Helen is currently investigating the history of the cottage, as there is some evidence it may be even older than we believe.

We have found out that the original name seems to have been Craiglemine Keeper's Cottage and was part of a larger estate owned by Sir William Maxwell.
